Your age and perceived challenges will determine how we deliver your autism diagnostic assessment to prove or disprove the presence of the condition. Each person is individual and as such our assessments are tailored to your specific needs.
Initial Referral and Registration
Before we can offer you an Autism (ASD) assessment we need you to complete an initial referral. Once submitted a Case Manager will arrange to call you at a convenient time to discuss your referral and offer you an appointment.
Initial Consultation
The initial stage is a consultation with one of our psychologists. All of our clinicians have extensive experience with autism spectrum, as well as with other conditions, including those with overlapping presentations such as ADHD, Sensory Processing Disorder, trauma, personality disorders and general mental health. This stage is so you can share your concerns and reasons for considering an autism diagnostic assessment.
It is essential that we determine whether a diagnostic assessment is appropriate, as many other conditions have similar presentations. This stage is so that our psychologists can ensure we make the most appropriate recommendations moving forward.
Prior to your appointment, you will receive an online Social Responsiveness Scale 2 measure to complete (via email).
Assessment
The assessments will be completed at a pace that is comfortable for you.
During your appointments it will be necessary for us to:
The Autism Diagnostic Interview Revised (ADIR) is administered with an informant for every client to ensure we gain a fully comprehensive understanding of every person we assess.
The Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule 2 (ADOS-2) is also conducted with all clients, and you may choose whether this is face-to-face or on a remote basis.
Additional assessments may have been recommended in your post consultation letter including a cognitive, ADHD or trauma assessment. You can opt to have these included in our overall assessment package.
We provide face-to-face assessments in Oxfordshire, Milton Keynes, Manchester, Bristol and Hampshire. We also administer ADOS informed assessments remotely for clients who would prefer to be assessed in the comfort of their own home.
