Therapies we offer

  • CBT

Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) is a type of therapy that looks at your thoughts, feelings and behaviours and helps to change some of these to manage your problems.
CBT aims to help you deal with overwhelming problems in a more positive way by breaking them down into smaller parts.

  • EMDR

EMDR is an acronym for 'Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing'

The predominant aim is to release the individual from challenging thoughts from the past and to subsequently enable adaptive responses to be possible in the present so that the disturbing memory is no longer emotionally distressing. The person will remember the event rather than re-experience it.

  • Compassion-Focused Therapy

Compassion-focused therapy (CFT) aims to help promote mental and emotional healing by encouraging people in treatment to be compassionate toward themselves and other people

CFT looks to help those who struggle with shame and self-criticism. Often these can be the driving forces behind other mental health conditions like anxiety and depression.

  • Dialectical Behavioral Therapy

Dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT) is a type of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) but it's specially adapted for people who feel emotions very intensely.

DBT may be used to treat borderline personality disorder (BPD) and people who struggle with emotional instability.

  • Solution-Focused Brief Therapy

This therapy promotes positive change rather than dwelling on past problems. Practitioners will encourage you to focus positively on what you do well, set goals and work out how to achieve them. Just three or four sessions may be beneficial.

  • ACT Therapy

Acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT, said as one word), is a type of psychological therapy that can be used in the management of conditions such as anxiety, pain and depression.

ACT uses principles from mindfulness and cognitive behavioural therapy and rather than trying to help you to alter your thoughts and feelings, encourages you to become more aware of your thoughts, feelings and beliefs and the helpful and unhelpful ways you respond.

How to get started

  • Initial Referral

Start by completing our initial referral form online which can be found by clicking the yellow button below.

As soon as we have received your initial referral you can expect a Case Manager to be in contact within 24 hours to discuss your siutation and if appropriate offer you an initial consultation with a psychologist.

  • Consultation

Once we have offered you an appointment we will ask you to complete our online client registration form which can be found under the clients tab of our website.

This 60 minute appointment can be delivered online or face to face and will involve you and the psychologist exploring your current situation and discussing the most appropriate options for you going forward.

  • Therapy

Following your consulation, if you wish to continue, you will be offered a regular weekly appointment with your psychologist. The day and time will be yours as long as you are committing to weekly appointments.

You may have your sessions online or face to face.

Sessions are open ended meaning that unless you are externally funded you will not be limited by a set number of sessions.
